Mayoress boosts boat appeal

A COFFEE morning held by the Mayoress of Winchelsea will help keep Pett Level Rescue Boat afloat.

The well attended event, held at Winchelsea Court Hall last Saturday, raised £385.70 for the charity.

The money will go the rescue boat’s Building Extension Appeal. The appeal has already raised £12,000 of the £35,000 needed to complete the new extension.

Mayoress Jo Melvin said: “This is one of our local emergency services which we are proud of. “The Association receieves no funding and depends solely on public donations and sponsorship to keep providing this service we depend on so much.

“I would like to thank all the local residents who supported this event.”

Pett Level Rescue Boat Asssociation holds its annual Open Day at the boathouse, on Pett Level Road, on August 21.

The trustees, crew and volunteers from the boat thanked the Mayoress for arranging the event and for people’s continuing support.
