Memory walk for Alzheimer's Society

As the sun shone almost 100 people turned out in Bexhill and Hastings to give their support to the 2008 Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk.

The seafront sponsored walks on Sunday aimed to raise valuable funds and awareness for local people with dementia and their carers, and promote the support services offered by the branch.

Memory walkers in Bexhill started on the seafront opposite the Sackville and headed off to Galley Hill with the promise of an icecream on the way back.

Sarah Neighbour of the Hastings and Rother branch commented: "Given the precarious weather over the last couple of weeks, it seemed particular opportune that it was such a sunny day, and there were so many people walking in aid of the local branch.

"Every penny raised goes directly towards providing local support to local people. Many people were walking just to support the Society, some were walking to support a loved one, or some walked because the sun was shining - whatever the reason everyone was there with a common aim - to create a better future for people with dementia.

"Thank you to everyone who took part and everyone who contributed - and remember this is an annual event which we hope will grow and grow."
