Men taken to hospital after car hits tree in Midhurst

Two men were taken to hospital last night after their car crashed into a tree.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the A286 shortly after 8pm yesterday (October 25).

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said one man was trapped in the vehicle and firefighters from Midhurst and Petworth, along with a rescue tender from Chichester, freed him from the car.

The air ambulance was also in attendance and said the driver was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester with suspected arm and chest injuries, while the passenger was also taken to St Richard’s with suspected neck injuries.

Police were also on the scene.

Fire crews had made the area safe by 10.30pm.
