A DAMP and drizzly Sunday saw four members of the Midhurst and Petworth Inner Wheel Club set off from St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, to walk the 14 miles to the Riverbank Medical Centre in Midhurst.
Their efforts were in aid of both Cancer Research and Breast Cancer Care.
Following footpaths and tracks the group made its way via East Lavant, West Dean, Cocking and Heyshott, reaching their destination in Midhurst in five hours.
Husbands and friends met the walkers in Cocking for a picnic lunch, where more members of the Inner Wheel Club joined the walk for the final leg.
Inner Wheel president Linda Doney said: “The walkers were pleased to say that there were no blisters, and they still had enough energy left to enjoy a well deserved barbecue at the end of the day.”
She thanked the group for their enthusiasm and high spirits in spite of the gloomy weather, and announced more than £1,000 had already been collected towards her chosen charities, Cancer Research and Breast Cancer Care.
