MIDHURST and Petworth Rotarians are celebrating after raising a fantastic £4,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care at their annual golf day.

Petersfield resident and Marie Curie patron, Daphne Hanbury was delighted to attend a Rotary Club dinner where she received the cheque.

In her new role, Mrs Hanbury assists with fundraising and promotes awareness of Marie Curie nursing.

The charity’s professional nurses provide free, hands-on care to terminally-ill people in their own homes and
vital emotional support to loved ones.

The service enables families to make the most of those precious final days together.

Fundraising manager Mary Meekings said: “We are so grateful to the local Rotary for choosing to support Marie
Curie Cancer Care. Every five minutes someone in the UK dies without the end-of-life care that they require.

“That’s why we urgently need to reach more people and why we count on the support of individuals and organisations like the Midhurst and Petworth Rotary.”

Formed in 1964, the Midhurst and Petworth Rotary comprises 45 business men and women dedicated to providing service to people in the local and international communities.
