MEMORIAL Hall in Midhurst became a hive of activity as delicious cakes of all shapes and sizes were delivered by bakers from across the town.
Sophie May-Lewis organised a giant bake sale in aid of the charity Help for Heroes, raising hundreds of pounds in the process.
Musicians Alan Gibson, Marco Frankland, and Gracie Spooner entertained volunteers and cake-buyers alike.
Sophie said: “As mid-afternoon neared, the raffle was drawn and the event drew to a close, after seeing a total of 122 visitors.
“Only a few of the many wonderful cakes remained, and these were taken that afternoon to a centre run by the charity Stonepillow in Chichester, a welcome treat for the homeless people the charity helps.
“It is a great pleasure to announce the event raised more than £650, which when combined with a number of online donations received via the associated Justgiving page, means the Bake for Heroes Colossal Cake Sale raised a grand total of £721.43 for Help for Heroes.
“A huge thank you must go to all the groups, individuals and businesses who supported the event, and of course to the generous people of Midhurst and surrounding villages who helped make the day a fantastic success.”
