Every year the team at Jackson-Stops Midhurst in Market Square donate to locally-based good causes and supports initiatives of all sorts to make a real difference within the community.

This year, its efforts have included supporting the restoration of Chichester Cathedral, the reconstruction of St James’ Church spire in Heyshott, a donation to Winston’s Wish foundation and litter picking around Midhurst.

Staff have also helped keep the town tidy and its most recent act of support in the community has seen Jackson-Stops sponsor a production of David Walliams’ bestselling children’s book, The Midnight Gang, which launches at Chichester Festival Theatre later this month.

The team then invited several local schools to enter a creative writing competition, drawing from the book’s main theme, ‘The importance of kindess’.

Nick Ferrier, Director of Jackson-Stops Midhurst, said: “Our aim was simply to encourage pupils to be imaginative, take pride in their work and express their understanding of kindness in their lives.

“We were overwhelmed by all the colourful and expressive entries. Some were really very touching.”

The cast of The Midnight Gang have also kindly agreed to sign two copies of the book, which Jackson-Stops plans to donate to Midhurst and Petworth Libraries.
