MIDHURST trader Stuart Fraser has been rewarded for his contribution as a blood donor to helping save people’s lives.
Mr Fraser, the boss of Fraser’s menswear shop in North Street, was among 53 donors honoured by NHS Blood and Transplant at an awards event held in Croydon.
In total, the donors from across London, Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex have given almost 4,500 units of blood, the equivalent of 3,600 pints – enough to save more than 13,000 lives.
Mr Fraser, who has donated blood 75 times, received a crystal plate in recognition of his effort.
Anyone wanting to donate for the first time should be aged between 17-65, weighing at least seven stone 12lbs, and in general good health. Those who have donated before can start again up to their 70th birthday and there is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years.
