A MIDHURST-based entertainment agency is about to embark on its first major stage show tour of music venues and theatres across the country.
Sussex and Surrey Entertainment, based in Bepton Road, was set up by businessman Simon Clark following the closure of his DVD rental shop in the town.
It provides bands and solo artists for weddings and other events.
Simon said: “I worked part-time as a musician for many years, but things started to really pick up a few years ago so I made the decision to become a full-time professional musician in 2010.
“Now I perform about 200 times a year – either playing solo piano, or keyboards and saxophone with a number of different bands.”
Simon set up his first live stage show after discovering there was no UK-based tribute band for his favourite artist, Stevie Wonder.
Now The Stevie Wonder Experience features a 12-piece live band, replicating the line-up and sound of Stevie Wonder’s own live shows, with Zion Wilson – featured in the BBC’s Last Choir Standing – as Stevie Wonder.
The Stevie Wonder Experience takes to the stage for the first time at Haslemere Hall on Friday, September 14 – the opening night of the tour which includes the 1800-seater Fairfield Halls in Croydon.
