Miracle as teen dragged from Littlehampton crash horror

A band of heroic good Samaritans helped rescue a trapped driver in Littlehampton, last night (Tuesday, December 12).

The 18-year-old is believed to have slammed into a roundabout in St Floras Road, at about 10pm.

The impact of the crash was so powerful it flipped his crumpled silver Toyota over the roundabout, causing the car to land on its roof.

Emergency services personnel have since described how brave passers-by rushed to the scene to drag the injured teen out of the smoking car.

Littlehampton’s station manager, Niall Cooper, of West Sussex Fire and Rescue, said: “I’m amazed that anyone got out of that vehicle alive.”

Police say the driver is in a serious, but non-life-threatening condition. He is today being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Officers are urging witnesses to the crash to call 101 quoting Op Allington or email [email protected]
