Missing seven-year-old girl found after large-scale search on Witterings beaches
Police officers assisted a search for a missing seven-year-old girl on Sunday afternoon (May 31).
There were concerns for the girl, who had gone missing from her family at West Wittering Beach at 1.40pm.
Two Coastguard rescue teams were deployed to carry out a search as well as Hayling Inshore Lifeboat. Police officers and lifeguards also joined the search.
Sussex Police said the girl was found safe and well 30 minutes later.
A spokesperson for Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Thankfully the child was found safe in East Wittering and reunited with family.
"Free child safe wristbands are available at the lifeguard tower on West Wittering Beach.
"Please make sure you use them and keep and eye on your children at all times when visiting the beach."
