Mum's fundraiser for unit which helped miracle baby

THE mother of a miracle baby who was only given a five per cent chance of survival after a premature birth is holding a fete to raise funds for a neo-natal unit in London.

Chloe Suggitt, of Cooden Drive, is organising the fete as a thank-you to St George’s Hospital’s neo-natal unit in Tooting after their care helped little Eva Saunders survive.

Eva was born at 23 weeks in September 2008, weighing just 1lb 2oz (515g).

The fete will be at Aaron Manor Care Home on July 23 between 1pm and 5pm.

Chloe said: “We are supporting St Georges Neo Natal Unit in Tooting who worked tremendously hard in caring for Eva over a five-month period in Intensive Care.

“They are severely underfunded.

“We are doing this to help others have the opportunity that Eva had, and in addition to that its nice for us to remember how extremely fortunate we are, and indeed Eva is.

“Eva will be three years old in September and currently attends Charters Ancaster Nursery two days a week.

“Eva underwent Bayley testing at just under two and a half years and her results were primarily those of a three-year old plus.

“We had been waiting for such a test from her birth really so we were so pleased.”
