Mountfield Film Club's Next Presentation: I don't think so far that the community in Netherfield has taken advantage of the Mountfield Film Club's facilities. It is open to all and the film's that are due for screening are bang up to the minute.

The Big Screen presentation this time is: “What we did on our holiday” . It is an hilarious comedy with Billy Connelly, David Tennant and Rosamund Pike. It has already been described as warm witty and delightful by the critics. The showing takes place on Saturday April 2nd. Doors open at the Mountfield Village Hall at 7.30pm. The cost for this evening of good wholesome entertainment is £5 per person on the door. All are welcome and that includes the children. The Mountfield Club will be open for pre and post film drinks and there will be complimentary refreshments available. Due to the quality of the releases shown these film nights are becoming very popular. The film starts at 8 o’clock so come early to make sure you and your friends get front row seats! 78 Record Collector’s Club: You know those heavy black things that were easily broken but could be made into ashtrays with a little bit of heat. As a collector of many years I wonder how many others enjoy the delights of listening to, and collecting, these wonderful items of nostalgia, Some of you may have noticed that the BBC has been running a series of programmes on Radio 4 which have charted the history of the genre and have played some of the early scratchy recordings. Blues, Jazz, Opera and the like have all featured on the programmes. I am sure that there are lots of you out there who could be persuaded to form a club.

So what form would it take. Perhaps a monthly meeting with a discussion on the merits of one form or another. Of course, listening to the recordings would feature heavily in the meeting. Exchanges, copyright issues, rarities, a newsletter perhaps with lots of articles from the members. Who knows, if the interest was there, maybe guest speakers talking about their memories of 78s.
