New broadband frustration in Ebernoe

There is new broadband frustration in Ebernoe as villagers face another road closure for cable laying which will not benefit them.

Parish council chairman Ann Tyrrell has been fighting since villagers found they were among five per cent of the UK not scheduled for fast broadband under the better connected’ scheme.

She told members of West Sussex County Council’s county local committee: “We are about to suffer major disruption as the road through our village is again closed probably for two weeks to lay fibre optic cable for broadband to a private customer. We are told by the contractor we could use this to service village properties. However we are still being informed this would be too costly as we are too remote.”
