DAVID Renshaw has traversed the Church of England’s Chichester diocese from its eastern fringe to its western boundary to take up his new job as rector of Milland and Linch.

He has arrived in the parish – with a cat, two dogs, five hens and his younger son Paul, 16 – from Rye, in East Sussex, where he was a team vicar.

And he is no stranger to a country setting.

“I’m a Staffordshire lad and the son of a farmer. I can talk their language and understand the countryside and the issues,” he said.

Mr Renshaw celebrated 25 years in the priesthood in June this year. He went to theological college after six and a half years as a ceramics designer and modeller for the Wedgewood company.
