CLLR Barry Lipscomb has been appointed as a new member for the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA).
Cllr Lipscomb has been appointed by Winchester City Council, where he has served as councillor for Wonston and Micheldever Ward since 2002.
He will join the 26 other members who are responsible for governing the national park.
His previous experience includes serving as mayor of Winchester and representing Lymington as a member of New Forest District Council from 1979 to 1987, when he and his family lived in the heart of the New Forest.
Before the designation of the South Downs National Park he was a member of the South Downs Joint Committee where he also served as a member of the planning committee.
“I look forward to using my experience to instil trust through being straightforward and working hard to help deliver the national park’s purposes and duties,” he said.
Cllr Lipscomb replaces Keith Wood who stepped down from the role.
