A new day care nursery for babies and toddlers looks set to open in Petworth after the shock closure of facilities next to the primary school.

Petworth Primary School governor Eileen Lintill told members of Petworth Town Council a new provider had been chosen to take over the former Busy Bees nursery, but could not yet be named.

She said they were existing nursery care providers and the opening date would depend on how long the registration process took.

“September will be the latest date and when they open they will be able to build up trust again. We believe we have got a really good provider . We can’t make them commit to a certain time there, but we have been very careful in looking over their background and business plan and they are a different entity from the one who was there before.”

The Busy Bees nursery closed on March 31, saying it was unable to provide affordable childcare.
