TO coincide with Parkinson’s Awareness Week from April 7-13, the Chichester and Bognor Regis branch of Parkinson’s UK is launching a new support group for those living with Parkinson’s disease and their carers around the Midhurst area.
Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s, a condition which currently has no cure but can have a devastating effect upon the lives of sufferers and carers.
Acting vice-chairman of the branch, Carol Tippen, said: “For many members and their carers, getting out and meeting other people can be very difficult, especially as those with Parkinson’s do not know from day to day how it will affect them.
“We now have a significant nucleus of branch members based in and around Midhurst. By setting up this group we can provide them with more opportunities to meet others while providing the support services that Parkinson’s UK has at its disposal.”
The first meeting is at The Divine Motherhood and St Francis of Assisi, St Mary’s Presbytery Hall, Bepton Road, Midhurst, at 2pm on April 9.
The intention is to hold meetings at the same place on the second Wednesday of every month, providing educational information as well as a social gathering.
