THERE was some extra festive cheer for elderly and vulnerable people in the Midhurst and Petworth area with the opening of the new day-care club at the Grange leisure centre.

The new service was founded by the voluntary Rother Valley Together group and is run by Age UK.

The club, which is open four days a week, kicked off in style with Christmas lunches last month. Quizzes and cash prize bingo were also held.

Head of Age UK day services Tracy Taylor-Beck said anyone over 50 was welcome to attend.

“We hope in the new year to be open five days a week. We will have activities in the morning starting at 10am and in the afternoon they will be from 1.30pm.

“They will range from art and craft classes, chair-based exercise and tai chi to bingo, quizzes, reminiscences and many more.”
