Volunteers at Cowdray Ruins enjoy a get together

IT’S fun being a volunteer with the Cowdray Heritage Trust, as this picture taken at one of their get-togethers proves.

Now the trust is appealing for more people to give up a half-day slot to help out at the Cowdray Ruins when they re-open to the public in the middle of this month.

A new season coffee morning is being held tomorrow at 10.30am at Cowdray Park Golf Club. Anyone thinking about volunteering can go along and discover what it is like to work in the historic building.

Heather Ongley, operations manager at the Ruins, said: “Thousands of people living in the area have visited Cowdray since its grand opening in March 2007. Now the trust is encouraging those visitors to think about spending more time on the site by joining the volunteers who keep it open to the public.

“New faces are always needed and always welcome.”
