No empty shops in Midhurst town centre

Traders were celebrating with the news this week that there are no empty shops in Midhurst

Town councillors greeted the news with delight when the announcement was made at the community and environment committee through rural town coordinator Melanie Burgoyne’s September report.

She told the council: “Midhurst’s vacancy rate is now at 0 per cent, given that we do not count units undergoing refurbishment and therefore not available to rent, or units that have a tenant completing works.”

She said the remaining empty unit in West Street has been taken with a new womens’ clothing shop planning to open at the end of October.

“The corner unit of West Street and Bepton Road in which the tenants has spent over a year preparing, is to open in a few weeks.

“It will be selling high-end photographic art with a potential world-wide appeal due to the exclusive offering likely to appeal to collectors.”

Fitzcanes is hoping to open in the former Rico’s Cafe at the bottom of North Street before Christmas.
