THIS week we value a still life by Camoin.
Camoin is a well-listed post-Impressionist, who worked alongside such masters as Henri Matisse, and specialised in landscape and still life subjects.
Camoin, a French painter (1879-1965), was commonly associated with the Fauves after attending the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he socialised with the likes of Gustave Moreau and Henri Matisse.
This painting is of a fairly modest size, and a rather sketchy example of a still life by Camoin. Our specialists concurred this piece could reach at least £12,000 at auction, due to the prestige associated with this period of art.
The painting is accompanied by a certificate issued by French dealer Paul Cailac, which confirms the authenticity of the piece.
Our specialists valued this piece at £8,000 to £12,000.
