Harbour holds key to regeneration

AT a time of economic hardship and recession Rye Harbour continues to buck the trend.

Established businesses are expanding and re-locating to the Harbour, often creating new jobs in the process, and the big cargo vessels continue to arrive as the Harbour maintains its standing as a flourishing port.

The real icing on the cake though is news that Rastrum Ltd has submitted plans for a new business park at Rye Wharf which could create hundreds of badly needed jobs.
Previous plans have been hampered and delayed by set-backs but this time we are hoping that it will be plain sailing for the Harbour.

As we move toward what is certain to be a packed and busy bank holiday weekend in Rye there is still lots to see and do this weekend with the big attraction being the Rye Country Show.

The popular annual event, held at Rye Foreign, this year, is the perfect showcase for the area’s rich rural heritage and, more importantly, raises vital funds for the Rye and Winchelsea Memorial Hospital.

Go along, enjoy the day and support a well loved local cause.
