An image which is so powerful that it actually needs no caption.

Last week my brave, inspirational and modest friend Kate Henwood posted an image on social media that made me stop in my tracks – I was wallowing in self pity at the time, with the onset of a very irritating and persistent head cold – and many others clearly felt the same.

The image was simply Kate showing the world her double mastectomy scars. I say simply, but everyone will agree, whether male or female, coming to terms with scars such as these, I can only imagine, being incredibly traumatic and that’s why this image had such an impact on so many people and kicked my self-pity into a cocks hat!

Kate’s caption for this image read ‘October, as you are aware, is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It’s not about pink ribbons, pink balloons or pink anything and it’s not just valid for October. Every day you need to be aware of breast cancer. This is the reality of breast cancer. This is my reality.’

Please do follow her journey and pass this on to anyone you feel might be affected or can benefit from Kate’s willingness to say things exactly as they are. For more visit www.facebook.com/KateCanDoThis
