KELLY BROWN Mum's the Word...Thank goodness there's someone taking me off my hamster wheel

Forrest Gump's momma said life was life a box of chocolates '“ you never know what you are going to get.

Well at the moment life feels more like a frantic hamster wheel, or a never-stopping roundabout and I’m worried if I pause for a second I’m going to go flying. I just don’t have the time to stop and take it all in.

Monday morning I get up and go to work. While I’m there I try to juggle 101 things, eat, do a couple of odd jobs and get home in time to put my little man to bed.

Time for tea and a catch up with the hubby before I have a shower, stick some washing in, flop out in front of the television and go to bed.

And like groundhog day – it happens all over again the next day.

There are a few minor exceptions to the rule. Some days I drop little man off at nursery, other days my husband does it.

Some days I go to the gym and do a class, or my hubby plays football.

But the tide of routine keeps us going through the week which means we get everything done without really thinking about it.

The weekends are becoming the same story.

Swimming lessons (little man), football games (big man) and the weekly shop (exhausted mummy) form a staple diet of our weekend.

And, of course, we have to fit in seeing parents, housework, and the minor point of spending some quality time together into just two short days.

My mum is always telling me to slow down and spend time relaxing – but I can’t. I have to be forced to stop, and luckily for me my lovely hubby makes me take time out.

While I am busy planning the next week’s meals he steps back and plans a last-minute night out for the two of us (complete with babysitter).

I’m glad someone is looking after me on this merry-go-round of life because I keep leaving that off my to-do list.
