Kids' masterpiece

Father's Day has been and gone and I thought readers, particularly those with an eye for modern or impressionist art, would like to see a photo of the card I received from my grand-daughters.

It was put together by my son’s two little girls, Niamh and Lucy Campbell, at their infant school in East Grinstead and when I opened the envelope and took out the card it nearly knocked me off my feet.

It was a bold, colourful caricature of their granddad, as seen through the eyes of his grandchildren, but there was also something about it that was a bit bizarre and smacked of Tracey Emin, almost Picasso-ish.

The hilarious feature for me is it made me look Caribbean with a few solitary strands of hair floating above my pate, as though nailed on just above my ear.

Meanwhile, my nose and mouth didn’t look too happy and were on their way somewhere else...

All considered, a masterpiece, a remarkable likeness. Aren’t kids amazing?
