LETTER: Can you meet the challenge of volunteering?

THE local branch of Parkinson's UK is totally dependent upon charitable giving and volunteers freely giving their time.

Firstly, we want to say thank you to local folk who recently gave £587.33 at our Christmas collection at Tesco’s in Chichester. Secondly, a very big thank you to our regular volunteers who enable the local group to continue serving people with Parkinson’s and their families.

Can I throw out a challenge to anyone who may have some spare time? Perhaps you’ve recently retired or have part-time work. Here is an opportunity to find fulfilment by donating time in support of running a local charitable group. Gain comes as an automatic return on giving time to something very worthwhile. Even greater gain is experienced by those whose lives are made more bearable and enjoyable as they journey through the various stages of Parkinson’s.

Anyone with an attitude of care and concern towards others can contribute in some way but those also with some computer skills willing to serve on our committee would be especially welcome. We have need of a Midhurst Group coordinator, a transport organiser, and a coordinator of information for our newsletter, programme schedules and website as well as people interested in fundraising and publicity. Your commitment can be tailored to your interests and time availability.

If you feel you might be able to offer some of your time, please give me (Alan Mee 01243 788539) or our chairman (Ann Wallis 01903 733112) a phone call in the first instance and we can provide you with more information.

Wishing you all a peaceful and fulfilling 2016.

Alan Mee

President,

Chichester & Bognor Regis Branch of Parkinson’s UK
