LETTER: Post Office move madness

Has the Post Office gone completely mad in proposing moving from West Street to the back of Sussex Stationers? How will queues, wheelchairs, pushchairs etc manage in Sussex Stationers?

What is the reason for this? There are rumours that Travelodge wish to extend into this building, having a main entrance in West Street. Will there be queues of people waiting and battling to get on buses as guests arrive pulling suitcases etc? Where can the bus stop be moved to? I don’t think the Army and Navy could accommodate often three buses lining up outside in a small space.

We have already lost our lovely, quirky Buttermarket with the individual businesses of a fishmonger, butcher, fruiterer and other delightful shops, to make way for the usual characterless ‘chains’. We have lost the unique shops and cafe in Sadlers Walk, including a post office, again for a ‘chain’.
