Hospital debacle

Delighted to hear the outcome of the musculo-skeletal (MSK) services contract debacle. Thanks to all those, too many to mention,who took up the cause.

How very disappointing that due diligence does not appear to have been undertaken by the Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group at the beginning of the commissioning process.

It seems strange that a new company was formed in January, 2014 to make the bid, especially since this company had no history by which its effectiveness could be judged.

The amount of time and effort, and cost to the taxpayer, are all extremely regrettable, especially with the current financial constraints. Was this decision political rather than practical? Whatever the motivation, the general consensus,especially among GPs, is that there is still a great deal of work to be done to improve the outcome of treatment for MSK patients.
