Having all recently passed their Scholarship or Common Entrance exams to the senior schools of their first choice, the Year 8 children officially ‘graduated’ from Handcross Park on Saturday 27th June during the annual Prize Giving ceremony.

The pupils have gained entrance to a wide variety of senior schools, both locally and further afield, including Brighton College, Winchester College, Wellington College, Hurst College, and Oundle School to name but a few.

The children were lucky to have guest speaker, ITN newsreader, Mr Alastair Stewart OBE present their prizes.

He spoke passionately about education and the importance of living positive lives, with kindness, loyalty and compassion; his speech was not only inspirational, it provided worthwhile advice for all those in attendance.

Following a picnic lunch in the grounds to the accompaniment of a jazz band, all the children then took part in the School Sports Day, enjoying a competitive afternoon of athletics.

It really was a wonderful way to round off the year.
