Pupils visit Parliament
George Lear, Subject Leader for Government and Politics at Collyer’s said: “It’s always special to visit Parliament, particularly in this election year, and the students gained a huge amount of educational value from the trip.”
After the main tour, the party of students proceeded to the Grand Committee Room where they took part in a debate on the value of Select Committees. Natasha Floodgate, Omer Selcuk, Maddie Lord, Austin Harwood-Stamper, Harry Close and Cameron Harris each played prominent roles in a lively discussion!

Hide AdAssistant Principal Melanie Russell said: “We have a strong Government and Politics department at Collyer’s and we are very grateful to George for organising this worthwhile trip for the students. I am sure that this will be hugely beneficial to their studies. What a fantastic opportunity!”
Jacob Pepper-Smith, who is studying AS Government and Politics, said: “The trip was very informative and gave a good insight into how the country is run. The educational session on the Select Committee was really helpful to my studies. Thank-you to the teachers for making it happen!”
