Query over venue

IS this a joke? The neighbourhood plan meeting for residents of River ward is to be held at the Arun Yacht Club?

Yes, I know it is just across the river, but in the absence of a ferry how are we to get there? We do not all possess cars and there is certainly no bus service. Or is that the idea? Not many people will manage, so we will be seen not to care.

The only people in the “neighbourhood” are the residents of Rope Walk, a small minority of River ward. Surely there are more suitable venues than this? St Catherine’s Church hall, the Windmill Entertainment Centre, Dove Lodge, the Look & Sea Centre, the Dolphin pub, even the council offices all come to mind.

Please think again, town council.

-Editor’s note: the meeting Mrs Lees refers to is for residents of River ward (west). The River ward (east) meeting has already taken place, at the town council’s Manor House offices last Wednesday, which is why it was not included in our list of meetings, although we mentioned it in a story on our website.

We understand the town council has publicised the consultation meetings through leaflets and its Progress newsletter delivered to every home in Littlehampton.
