Still going the distance

HERE’S a different sort of marathon which, thankfully, doesn’t involve anyone running 26 miles.

On Saturday, Mod Mums coffee club celebrated 45 years at the Methodist Church, in Rustington.

It’s a special group that provides mums and carers with time for themselves, every Wednesday morning, whilst the wonderful women in the crèche look after their children – which is a very welcome respite, indeed.

So, well done and thanks to all who started it, to all who’ve kept it going and to all the present group who work so hard to put on an amazing sapphire high tea.

It was a very successful event with plenty of time to chat and reminisce about all the good times over the past four decades.

I first took my children to it. Then I took my grandchildren.

Now, all these years later I serve tea and coffees. So, long may this great group continue to florish and grow.

I would just like to ask one last thing – if you were a Mod Mum or a crèche carer, and missed the celebration, or if you know of any Mod Mums who have moved on, please praise them and let them know that we’re still here, going as strong as ever.
