Trip to Kenya for oneElephantastic family

One lucky family who completes the elephantastic trails will win a dream trip to Kenya to visit an elephant orphanage in Nairobi to see the magnificent creatures in the flesh.

The beautifully colourful and elaborate designs of 185 model elephants will be displayed in all their glory at the grand unveiling event at the Carfax in Horsham on Sunday 26th July from 12:30pm.

The unmistakable and hugely talented actor, Brian Blessed will be there showing his support for the Born Free Foundation, a main beneficiary of the project, alongside well know children’s entertainer Dave Benson Phillips, who will be serenading the crowds with fun animal themed music.

Those wanting to get an early peek at the creative creatures, can witness a selection of elephants at Sparks in the Park on Sunday 12th July as part of the annual community event.

The theme ‘Loving Life’ in celebration of these unique animals, is aimed at raising awareness around the important preservation of this endangered species and to bring in funds to support the build of Born Free Foundation’s new elephant sanctuary in Tuscany, the first in Europe.

The elephants will each be placed in position following the launch event, creating two safari trails in the town centre and one in the surrounding countryside.

A mini trail in neighbouring town Billingshurst will also be available for locals and visitors to Horsham to enjoy from Friday 26th July to the Monday 31st August.

The charity fundraising project has been created by Horsham Rotary Club, with help from local traders’ organisation, Horsham Unlimited, the District Council and bringing the creative sparkle, Billingshurst based marketing agency PMW Communications.

With 128 elephant owning companies now on-board and 64 local charities alongside Born Free Foundation set to benefit from the proceeds, the project has more than tripled in size compared to the similar Giraffe project in Horsham in 2013.

Vic Reeves, Peter Andre, Freddy Flintoff and renowned wildlife artist Pollyanna Pickering are just some of the big names to show their support so far, and many local artists including Lindsay Wright, Juliette Goddard and Zoe Keable are emerging as front runners for the autumn auction, when the pieces of elephant art will go under the hammer.

Submission of completed trail entries will be automatically entered into the spectacular competition to win the trip to Kenya plus a range of other fabulous prizes.
