No surprise

With a total lack of any architectural quality, with wholly inadequate attention paid to the design of the space between the buildings, with no vision as to how this area should become part of the mixed fabric of Chichester and be a catalyst for regeneration there can be no surprise that Chichester Gate has become unpopular and under used.

The area will need a radical rethink – major surgery and not minor beautification – for it to become a popular destination. Alternatively, the reduced car parking facilities within the city could be usefully supplemented in this accessible location without incurring the cost of adding to the existing multi-storey facility.
