Oyez, Oyez, Oyez, MADhurst 2016 bos office is now open
THERE was already a long queue of people waiting to buy their MADhurst tickets when the box office opened in the Old Library this morning (Thursday, August 4).
It heralded the start of Midhurst’s seventh arts and drama festival which takes place from August 20-29 and this year celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of HG Wells and his links with the historic town.
And HG Wells himself was there to officially open the box office along with town crier John Travis, chairman of MADhurst John Barrett and MADhurst carnival organiser the Rev David Coote.
Tickets are now on sale for a series of events throughout the ten years. Mr Wells, will be conducting historic tours of Midhurst on Saturday, August 27 from midday, booking in advance is essential.
The Horne Section’s performance on September 3 will be particularly special as it will follow one of its members performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year and returning to the MADhurst programme are the Wonderyears, the country’s oldest Rock choir in action on Saturday August 20.
For something more pianissimo, tickets are also on sale for the Classical Concert at Midhurst Parish Church on Sunday, August 21. Adding a dash of folk to a classical event is the concert at the Walled Garden at Cowdray on Monday August 22. Completing the classical trio is the Shakespeare Heptet on Thursday August 25 at Woolbeding Church.
The Milestone Collective Swing Band is back on Saturday August 27 while Youth Zest returns with its charity music festival in aid of Tyler’s Trust and featuring young musicians Sophie Bosley, Joe Dunsford, Sophie Brownbill, Gus Roberts and Gracie Spooner.
The MADhurst Ceilidh takes place on Wednesday August 24 and the Cabaret & Dinner with The Midhurst Players is on Friday August 26.
