Paramedic and motorist suffer broken arms in Northchapel crash

A paramedic and another motorist were taken to hospital with suspected broken arms following a collision in Northchapel.

The incident happened on the A282 Fisher Street cross roads, north of Northchapel, at 10.40pm on Thursday evening (October 22).

Sussex Police said the crash involved a white Mercedes Benz ambulance car travelling west and a white Audi S4 estate travelling south.

A spokesman said both drivers sustained suspected broken right arms.

A 38-year-old woman from Liphook, Hampshire, who was driving the ambulance, was taken to the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

While the Audi driver, a 48-year-old man from Barnham, Bognor Regis, was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) spokesperson confirmed the incident involved one of its cars and another vehicle.

“We can confirm that an ambulance service vehicle was involved in a collision with a car,” said a SECAmb spokesperson.

“Both the female ambulance service member of staff and the male driver of the car sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.

“Our vehicle was not responding to an emergency at the time of the collision.

“We will be working with police with their investigation into this collision.”
