Pebsham centre plans hit by cash crisis

LACK of cash is hampering Pebsham Community Association's plans to improve the community centre, says newly re-elected chairman Paul Waghorn.

Writing in the association's news magazine Pebsham People, Mr Waghorn says of his hopes for the centre: "Small jobs around the place are the only visible signs in what has been a year beset with problems and financial restrictions.

"This has been caused mainly by the lack of money coming into the association from our usual sources.

"Local funding is being looked into but this is usually dependent on the equal amount of interest shown by the local community in the projects being proposed.

"Money is very tight and we must rely on willing helpers to get most jobs done.

"Anyone who would be prepared and can spend some time to help out with anything, please leave your name and contact number at the bar or in the suggestion box in the hallway and we will get back to you with further details."

Hopes are now pinned on new Pebsham Sports and Social Club franchise holders Dick and Rona Morton helping to restore the community association's finances.

Among fund-raising activities at the centre is tomorrow's annual association Christmas fair, which starts at 2pm.
