Charity Martha Trust says thank you to staff during Carers Week

To celebrate national Carers Week this week (June 8-15), the fundraising team at Martha Trust has done something special for staff.

It has sourced a number raffle prizes from local businesses as well as giving extra in house prizes to honour the work that their staff undertake on a daily basis .

In their June pay packet, every member of staff will receive a National lottery ticket plus a raffle ticket.

Staff have a 1 in 3 chance of winning a prize, with many prizes being prizes that would benefit the whole team.

Support worker Chloe Rubins, said: "Working at Martha is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had. Helping our residents every day, seeing them progress and making them smile

every day makes everything else worth it.”

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities

throughout the UK.

The campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to organise activities and events throughout the UK, drawing attention to just how

important caring is.

Julie-Ann Brown, senior support worker, said: "I came to Martha for three months as a stop gap and haven’t left, that was 16 years ago. I see the residents and the team at Martha as my extended family.”

Special thanks are given to the businesses below who donated prizes for the raffle: The Whitehouse Kent, MYPT, Arron Chandler, Hastings Contemporary, Kent Cricket, Gypsum, Stagecoach, Tescos, Morrisons, Solleys Icecream, Jeanette & Chris Goulding, HopperHolistic Harmony, Dough Dough Pizza, Arvind Kaur Kundalini Yoga Real Deal Roasters, local author Anstey Harris, Daisy Green Holistic Shed and Amy Faulkner.

Fundraising and events officer Kerry Banks BEM said: "We are incredibly proud to have such a brilliant team at Martha, who are dedicated to making a real difference to our guys and girls. Like all key workers, they have been working incredibly hard to keep our very special residents safe and to date, we are happy to report that all three of our Martha homes remain COVID free and long may that continue. There have been some fabulous prizes donated, we are so grateful for the amazing business and individuals that have donated."

Martha Trust, which has Mary House in Hastings, supports people with profound physical and multiple learning disabilities. It offers residential and respite as well as support for families in a bright, modern, safe and stimulating environment.
