College goes green in support of St John Ambulance

Between 9pm and 11pm last night (June 24) the turret was bathed in a green light to mark St John’s Day, which saw landmarks across the country lit up in recognition of all the work the charity has been doing during the current pandemic.

St John Ambulance has been supporting the NHS since March with volunteers working in hospitals, supporting blood test clinics and providing emergency ambulance cover.

St John volunteers in Sussex have given over 8,000 hours of emergency care.

Midhurst Rother College has long association with St John Ambulance and two members of staff, Simon Taplin and Roger Burton, have been involved as volunteers in providing training and patient-facing care for the charity throughout the pandemic.

Stuart Edwards, principal of the college, said: “We are really pleased to be able show our support for St John Ambulance at this time.

“I’ve heard about all the incredible things St John volunteers have been doing across Sussex over the last few months, and this is a great way to raise the profile of that work and to say thank you.”
