The town’s Conservative group has also been checking if the services have enough personal protective equipment, or PPE.

Councillor Jane Lamb said, “I am ringing round Meads residents who may be lonely, isolated or in need of help. I am self isolating because I am in a risk group myself but with some helpers, we have been ringing from our homes for the last week to folk who may need help or just a chat.

“They are very glad of the contact. Other conservative councillors in different wards have also been doing the same for the last week.”

The group has also been contacting elderly and vulnerable people to see if they require any support and other party members have been collecting and delivering prescriptions so that people have the medication they need.

This comes after the Eastbourne Lib Dem group announced it is using its phone systems to check in on vulnerable residents.

All parties across Eastbourne have agreed to put politics aside during this time and are using their resources to help the public.
