Three members of the Midhurst and Petworth Rotary Club received special recognition for their work for Rotary when they were presented with Paul Harris Fellowships.
David Cole, Nigel Goodenough and Tricia Saunders received the honour from president Richard Hill at a meeting of the Rotarians, Inner Wheel and friends.
Both Nigel and Tricia have held many positions in Rotary, including president. David was attendance officer for many years.
Patent attorney Nigel Goodenough took up blacksmithing and designs and makes many items for Rotary and its members, including railings for Paul Ryan’s house and tee markers for the Rotary Golf Day. He is a keen campanologist, ringing at several local churches.
Tricia Saunders was an early female member and especially good at encouraging and mentoring other women members. When she was president she led a successful visit to Rotary’s twin club in Joigny.
David Cole said his citation: “has been a reassuring lynch-pin within our Rotary Club, fulfilling the roll of attendance officer with integrity and patience since almost before Noah was a child! Most of us have not known anyone else doing the job.”
