Hastings marks Remembrance Sunday: in pictures

Hastings has marked Remembrance Sunday, despite the second lockdown.

A socially-distanced wreath-laying was held at the war memorial in Alexandra Park, Hastings, today (November 8). Only six people took part in the commemorations due to the national lockdown, which came into force on Thursday. The Hastings mayor laid a wreath on behalf of the town and its people, including the many organisations in Hastings, and the Royal British Legion laid a wreath on behalf of all serving, retired and fallen service personnel. The public was urged to stay away and ‘remember from home’ by the council - but around 250 people turned up. 1066 Marshals were there to keep people separated and they also took people’s contact details, or people could sign in using the NHS Test & Trace app.
