A MADhurst spokesman explained: "This is a good way for people to directly support those in our town who have the greatest need for whatever reason.

"It has been great to partner with Tesco's again, who have always been a great support to MADhurst and the Foodbank. Another reason why Midhurst is a great place to live and visit."

Tesco used its Community Partnership Fund of £100, and MADhurst donated a gift bag containing a box of mince pies, a net of satsumas, a box of milk chocolate fingers and Christmas crackers.

The lunch boxes and the Christmas bags will be delivered to the families at the end of this week just in time for the festive period to begin so the food it to help them through the holiday period.

Donations for the foodbank can be left at the collection point in Tesco’s, North Street Midhurst.
