Midhurst Christmas street party - In pictures

Midhurst residents got into the festive spirit last week, as the town hosted its annual Chirstmas party.

Attended by up to 5,000 people, the event on Friday (December 6) was ‘aimed at families and children’. Kayleigh Collyer, events officer at Midhurst Town Council, said the party ‘did not disappoint’. She added: “The evening was kicked off with the town cryer, John Travers, welcoming the community and introducing Midhurst Musical Mayhem to be the first to perform musically. They were smoothly followed by the highlight of the evening which was the switching on of the Christmas lights. They were switched on by the Midhurst Child VIP Molly Shadbolt. The stage was then filled with children from the local schools joining together to sing a variety of Christmas songs such as silent night and jingle all the way. Last to perform was Chris Cummins who performed Christmas carols and Michael Bublé Christmas songs. There was a magical feel in the air which was helped by the amazing juggling snowman on stilts, the unicycle-riding elf and of course Santa who looked incredibly comfortable and at home in the Santa’s Grotto that The Upholsterer built specially for the occasion. Overall the event was an evening enjoyed by all, there were mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine to the plenty and the streets were lined with happy faces. We look forward to next year’s.”
