Midhurst thanks YMCA for £30K grant

The availability of the money is part of a programme to help the YMCA raise its profile in the west side of the county and it made a real difference to the Town Council’s finances for the skatepark.

Councillors told to be 'very proud' of Midhurst skateparkWith the YMCA’s connections to the local area they wanted to leave a legacy that would benefit young people in Midhurst and surrounding area for years to come and so they were keen to support the Town Council in this work.

Commenting on the grant, councillor Gordon McAra, who oversaw the skatepark’s finances, said: “This is an amazing contribution to the town and local area. The skatepark has been a real success and a major benefit to young people in the area.

"The age groups already using the facility include three- and four-year-olds to late teens and older. Some adults have even braved the concrete although some have got rather closer to the concrete than planned.

"We also received a substantial grant from Chichester District Council of £15,000 for the project, which has created a brilliant asset for all to use.”

The YMCA’s generosity has allowed the Town Council complete the skatepark project.
