Midhurst thanks YMCA for £30K grant

Midhurst Town Council has thanked the YMCA after the same organisation gave the Town Council a large grant of £30,000 towards the new skatepark in Carron Lane.

The availability of the money is part of a programme to help the YMCA raise its profile in the west side of the county and it made a real difference to the Town Council’s finances for the skatepark.

Commenting on the grant, councillor Gordon McAra, who oversaw the skatepark’s finances, said: “This is an amazing contribution to the town and local area. The skatepark has been a real success and a major benefit to young people in the area.

"The age groups already using the facility include three- and four-year-olds to late teens and older. Some adults have even braved the concrete although some have got rather closer to the concrete than planned.

Chichester district’s election results from West Sussex County Council in fullHis comments were echoed by Carol Lintott, MTC chairman who said: “This is an amazing grant to help the young people of the Midhurst area and it is deeply appreciated.

"We also received a substantial grant from Chichester District Council of £15,000 for the project, which has created a brilliant asset for all to use.”

The YMCA’s generosity has allowed the Town Council complete the skatepark project.
