Anyone can take part in the virtual race. All you have to do is set yourself a personal challenge, for example run 10k, cycle a half marathon distance, swim 500m in the sea or travel a kilometre on a pogo stick, and ask people to sponsor you. Or you can make a donation instead.

Heads On is the official charity of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides specialist NHS mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages across Sussex, and for children and young people in Hampshire.

How far can you run, cycle or swim? Maybe you’re a new runner regularly setting yourself goals, or perhaps you’ve been cycling for a while and are looking for motivation to take on a challenge? Whatever your distance, whatever your pace, you can join in.

The money raised will go towards Heads On’s Covid-19 response, which is supporting people in the community who are most affected by the pandemic.

Emma Farquhar, Fundraising Assistant at Heads On, said: “The great thing about the Rainbow Race is that you choose the distance, the pace and the place, which means absolutely anyone can take part.

“It doesn’t matter how fast you are, or how far you travel in your challenge, it’s all about coming together, virtually, on Sunday July 12, to have some fun and show support for our local mental health services.”

It costs just £5 for adults to enter the Rainbow Race, and children under 16 can get involved for £2.50. The Heads On team will support you with advice and guidance on how to fundraise, and would love to hear the stories of your personal experiences and challenges.

The team will be awarding a range of prizes, including the fastest runner and most fundraised.
