“We know it’s hard being inside and not seeing friends and family but please don’t visit Brighton and Hove this weekend. Stay home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.”

Pictures show the beach bustling with visitors – despite several warnings from authorities to stay at home.

A number of police officers can be seen monitoring the area and speaking to members of the public who are not adhering to the government’s guidance.

Sussex Police issued a plea to residents to resist the urge to go out in the warm weather this weekend.
