Firefighters in Haywards Heath kindly took time out of their day yesterday to wish a two-year-old boy happy birthday.

Charlie Knight, whose birthday is today, was sitting at the end of his driveway in a fireman’s helmet when he was delighted to see a fire engine pull up alongside him.

A video shows him excitedly jump to his feet as the vehicle approaches and the crew wishes him happy birthday from inside.

Charlie’s parents, Emily Pomfrett and Adam Knight, said: “Haywards heath firefighters took time out of their day to come and wish our little boy Charlie Knight a happy 2nd birthday for tomorrow (25th April) and we would like to give them the recognition they deserve.
