A person suffering from seizures on Bosham beach has been rescued by the coastguard.

Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team said they were called in the early hours of this morning, May 3, to help the ambulance service and HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) with a rescue in Bosham.

A spokesman added: “Team arrived on scene to assist the ambulance service with a casualty extraction using our stretcher, as the casualty was suffering from seizures and was on the beach.

“The teams worked together, to move the casualty off the beach and across the fields to the main road where the awaiting ambulance was.

“The casualty was then taken to hospital and all assets were stood down to return to station and our beds.”

The crew returned to the station at 2.05am, he said.

The spokesman added: “The coast and the sea can catch you out whether you’re local or not.

“Our message remains: call 999 Coastguard if you’re in trouble. Please help us and our families to stay safe. Be aware of the risks, and keep your distance.”
